Halloween is one of our favourite times of the year — a chance to have a little fun, decorate the office, and maybe even sneak in a few sweets between meetings! But whether you’re hosting a workplace costume contest or greeting trick-or-treaters at home, it’s important to keep things safe and spooky (not scary for the wrong reasons!)
Here are a few of our top tips for a fun and fright-free Halloween:
🕯️ 1. Watch Those Candles & Lights
Nothing sets the mood like a glowing pumpkin or flickering candle — but open flames can quickly turn from festive to frightful.
🧡 Use battery-powered LED candles instead, and make sure your decorations are placed away from fabrics or furniture finishes.
🧙♀️ 2. Keep Pathways Clear
Whether at home or in the office, keep walkways free of cables, clutter, and costumes. Those Halloween decorations can be tripping hazards, especially in dim lighting.
✨ If you’re decorating your workspace, make sure chairs, tables, and storage units are positioned safely out of the way.
🍬 3. Be Sweet Smart
If you’re offering sweets to visitors or colleagues, double-check for allergy-friendly options and clearly label any homemade treats. Everyone deserves a Halloween treat that won’t come back to haunt them! 👻
🕸️ 4. Dress Comfortably (and Safely)
Long robes and trailing costumes look great — until they get caught on a chair wheel or desk corner. Keep it creative but practical!
🪑 And if you’re working late this week, don’t forget to sit comfortably — your spine shouldn’t be the scariest thing in the room.
🧡 5. Secure Your Space
With darker evenings, it’s a good time to double-check that your office or home workspace is secure. Lock up valuables, tidy up your desk, and ensure your workspace is ready for a productive (and safe) post-Halloween return.
